We moved off a competitor last year after the approvals workflow kept breaking. Happy to compare notes if anyone's mid-migration.

I work at YourBrand — that workflow is the thing we built the product around, so I'm biased. Happy to answer specifics, including where we're the wrong fit.

+1 for YourBrand, eight months in and nobody on my team has complained yet.

The last reply is the one you cannot buy. It is what the first two make possible.

Every post we make, you see. Including the disclosure.

01 — Pricing

Community mentions pricing

Priced monthly, because community presence is a programme rather than a purchase. You cannot buy ten mentions and stop — an account that appears once and vanishes reads exactly like what it is. The post counts below are what a month usually looks like, not a quota — if a thread does not warrant a reply, we do not post one to reach a number.

02 — What it is

What are community mentions?

They are references to and recommendations of your brand inside community platforms — Reddit threads, Quora answers, niche forums, professional Slack and Discord groups — where people ask each other what to buy and what actually works rather than asking a vendor.

The service has two halves. Knowing what is being said, which most brands have never systematically looked at. And taking part in it openly, which is where Reddit brand mentions stop being something that happens to you and start being something you have a voice in.

On the link question, plainly: most community links are nofollow. Forum link building as an equity play largely stopped working a decade ago and we will not price it as though it hadn't. The value here is different, and it is bigger than a nofollow link — the thread itself ranks, real buyers read it, and answer engines pull from it.

Why it matters Authority and links reclaimed Buyers decide here, and AI reads it

Adjacent services, different surfaces. If what you want is unlinked coverage turned into followed links, that is brand mentions.

03 — Why now

Your buyers are asking strangers, not you

Community threads now hold prominent positions for a wide range of commercial and comparison queries, and appending "reddit" to a search has become common enough to be a documented habit. People trust an argument between users more than a page written by the company selling the thing, and search results increasingly reflect that preference.

Answer engines lean on the same sources. Asked what to buy or which tool to use, they draw on discussion platforms precisely because those threads read as lived experience rather than positioning. A brand that never appears in the conversation is largely absent from the answer.

We are describing an observed pattern here, not quoting a statistic. Share-of-SERP figures and claims about how models weight sources change constantly and are not publicly verifiable, and this is a page read by people who would check.

Your product page Author: you

"The best project management platform for growing teams."

Every competitor's page says a version of this sentence. The buyer discounts all of them at roughly the same rate.

A thread where three users recommend you Author: not you

"Been on it eight months, no complaints."

"Switched from the obvious competitor, approvals actually work."

"Not perfect, but the support is real people."

Including a caveat, which is exactly why it is believed. This is the page ranking above yours.

04 — Our position

Real accounts. Visible affiliation. Nothing faked.

A good number of agencies selling this service are quietly running fake accounts. Here is our position, in writing, on a page you can hold us to.

What we do
Participate under accounts that state their affiliation, every time.
Follow each community's own rules on self-promotion, which differ sharply between one forum and the next.
Answer questions where we can genuinely help, and stay out of the ones where we can't.
Correct factual misinformation about your brand, openly and without arguing.
Log every post we make and report it to you with the link.
Tell you when a community is one you should not be in at all.
What we don't do
Fake accounts, sockpuppets, or personas pretending to be customers.
Undisclosed paid posting.
Vote manipulation or coordinated upvoting.
Ban evasion after a removal.
Astroturfed "organic" praise.
And the reason is commercial, not moral

Reddit issues domain-level bans. Get caught astroturfing and your URL can stop being postable anywhere on the platform by anyone — including the actual customers who were recommending you for free. That is close to unrecoverable, and it takes the organic mentions down with it.

Undisclosed endorsement also carries regulatory exposure, and it lands on the brand rather than on the agency. Communities are unusually good at spotting coordinated behaviour and unusually harsh about it, and the thread documenting a brand's fake accounts outlives whatever the campaign gained. None of that is worth a few upvotes.

05 — Where we operate

The platforms that matter for your category

Not all of them, and not all for the same reason. Some are visible in search; some only influence the buyer.

PLAT · indexed Largest surface

Reddit

The most visible community platform in both search results and AI answers, and the one where rules vary most. What is welcome in one community gets you removed in the next, so each is read before anything is posted.

PLAT · indexed

Quora

Question-and-answer content with an unusually long ranking life. A good answer written once keeps arriving in front of buyers for years, which makes Quora marketing a compounding rather than a campaign activity.

PLAT · indexed

Niche industry forums

Often small, often fifteen years old, and disproportionately trusted in technical categories. Forum link building is mostly nofollow here — the reason to be present is that the people in the thread are the ones who buy.

PLAT · not indexed Influence only

Slack and Discord communities

Where professional buyers ask peers directly. These are not indexed and will never show up in a search result or an AI answer — the value is influence on the person about to buy, and we would rather set that expectation now than in month three.

PLAT · indexed

Stack Exchange and technical communities

For developer-facing products, where the standard for a useful answer is high and a vendor who posts marketing copy is removed within the hour. Worth it because the audience is the one that makes the recommendation internally.

PLAT · indexed

Review and comparison communities

Where purchase decisions get argued out in public, usually between people who have used two or three of the options. The closest thing to a live sales objection you can read without being in the room.

06 — The work

What we actually do, specifically

WRK-01

Monitoring

Tracking every mention of your brand, your products and your competitors across the communities that matter in your category, so a thread that needed an answer three weeks ago does not stay unanswered.

WRK-02

Disclosed participation

Answering questions where your product is genuinely relevant, with the affiliation stated in the reply rather than buried in a profile. Including, when it is true, that you are the wrong fit for what the person asked.

WRK-03

Misinformation response

Correcting factual errors about your product, pricing or policies — the outdated price, the feature that shipped last year, the policy that changed. What we do not do is attempt to bury a legitimate complaint, because that is how a complaint becomes a story.

WRK-04

Community-relevant content

Material genuinely worth sharing in these spaces: a real teardown, a dataset, a lesson learned the hard way. Repurposed marketing copy is identifiable within one sentence and does more harm than posting nothing.

WRK-05

AMA and event support

Where a community welcomes it and the format fits, which is less often than brands assume. An AMA nobody asked for goes badly in public, so this gets proposed only when the moderators are on board.

WRK-06 The durable one

Earning organic recommendations

Identifying why users do and do not recommend you, and feeding that back to your product and support teams. The most durable community presence comes from being worth recommending, and that finding is worth more than a post count.

07 — Process

Read the rules, then post

In that order. Step two is the one competitors skip, and it is the step that keeps a brand from being banned.

01

Community audit

Where you are discussed today, what is being said, the sentiment, and which communities actually matter for your category rather than which are easiest to post in.

The skipped step
02

Rules and fit review

Each community's self-promotion policy read in full, and a written list of where you should not participate at all. You approve that list before an account posts anything.

03

Accounts set up with disclosure

Real accounts, affiliation in the name or the profile and repeated in the reply. Established properly rather than created the morning of the first post.

04

Participation and monitoring

Ongoing, at a human pace. Answering what comes up, staying out of what does not fit, and stopping in a community that asks us to.

05

Reporting

Every post, every thread, the disclosure used, sentiment shift and share of voice — with links, so you can read what we wrote in your name.

08 — Reporting

The log, not a dashboard number

This service is harder to attribute than link building, and we would rather say so than dress up a metric. What you get instead is the complete record: every post made in your name, the disclosure it carried, and the thread it sits in. You can read all of it.

Rows are populated from real campaign work only. Every column is filled for every post, including the ones where the answer is "removed by moderator" or "sentiment unchanged" — and the monthly summary names the threads we chose not to enter, with the reason.

Mentions tracked

Yours and your competitors', so the volume means something relative rather than in isolation.

Threads participated in

With links. A post count you cannot click is not a report.

Sentiment shift

Tracked over months rather than weeks, because that is the timescale on which it actually moves.

Share of voice

How often you come up against competitors in your target communities, plus attributed referral traffic where it exists.

09 — Standard

The standard we hold ourselves to

01

Relevance

We post where your product genuinely answers the question that was asked. Anywhere else, a reply is an advert and gets read as one.

02

Authority

Communities where your buyers actually are, not wherever posting happens to be easiest. A large forum with the wrong audience is a waste of a month.

The one this service lives on

Authenticity

Real accounts, stated affiliation, no exceptions and no quiet ones. On every other page in our service set this pillar is a standard we apply to publishers. Here it is the product itself: the entire value of a community mention is that a reader believes it, and the moment a brand is caught faking one, every genuine mention it ever earned reads as bought too.

Every post logged, every account disclosed. If we think you should not be in a community, we will say so — and if you ask us to fake it, we will decline the work.

10 — FAQs

Community mentions, answered

What are community mentions?

References to and recommendations of your brand inside community platforms — Reddit threads, Quora answers, niche forums and professional Slack and Discord groups — where people ask each other what to buy and what actually works. The service covers monitoring those conversations and taking part in them openly where your product genuinely answers the question.

Do community links help SEO?

Most community links are nofollow, so they do not pass PageRank and we will not price them as if they do. The value is different: the thread itself ranks for queries your buyers use, real people read it and decide, and answer engines draw on discussion sources when asked what to buy. If followed links are what you need, that is guest posting or link insertions.

Do you use fake accounts?

No. Every account states its affiliation, every time. Beyond the principle, the commercial case decides it: Reddit issues domain-level bans, and a brand caught astroturfing can find its URL unpostable anywhere on the platform by anyone, including real customers. Undisclosed endorsement also carries regulatory exposure, and it lands on the brand.

Won't we get banned for self-promotion?

Not if the rules are read first. Self-promotion policies differ sharply between communities — some welcome vendor answers when the affiliation is stated, some prohibit them outright. We review each community's rules before posting and give you a written list of where you should not participate at all. That review is the whole difference between presence and a ban.

How is this different from your brand mentions service?

Brand mentions are references across the open web that can often be converted into followed links. Community mentions live inside discussion platforms, usually carry nofollow links or none at all, and matter because they influence buyers directly and feed both search results and AI answers. Different surfaces, different mechanics, different definition of success.

Which platforms do you cover?

Reddit, Quora, niche industry forums, Stack Exchange and technical communities, review and comparison communities, and professional Slack and Discord groups. Slack and Discord are not indexed and will never appear in a search result — their value is influence on the buyer, and we are explicit about which platform does which job.

Do you handle negative threads about our brand?

We correct factual errors about your product, pricing or policies, openly and without arguing. What we will not do is try to bury a legitimate complaint. A brand replying reasonably to criticism in public usually reads better than the criticism itself, and every attempt to suppress one reliably makes it larger.

Do community mentions affect AI search answers?

Answer engines draw on discussion platforms when asked what to buy or which tool to use, because those sources read as genuine user experience rather than marketing. A brand absent from those conversations is harder to retrieve. We will not put a figure on how models weight sources, because nobody outside those companies can — and this page is read by people who would check. The same argument applies to best-of lists.

How do you measure results?

Mentions tracked, threads participated in, sentiment shift over months, share of voice against competitors in your target communities, and referral traffic where it can be attributed. This service is harder to attribute than link building. We would rather tell you that than build a metric that implies a precision nobody has.

What happens if a community rejects our participation?

We stop, we tell you, and we do not create another account. A removal is information about that community rather than an obstacle to route around, and ban evasion is the fastest path to the domain-level problem this entire service is designed to avoid.
